Hier die Doku „Cyberpunx“ von Ende der 80er/Anfang 90er. Die Doku hat Interviews mit William Gibson, Vernon Reid Libing Colour UND Timothy Leary, dessen LSD-Perspektive auf das Genre nochmal was ganz besonderes ist.
This 1990 documentary is an introduction to the world of cyberpunk – or how a subgenre of science fiction has managed to influence society, both technologically and socially. “Cyberpunk” features talking-heads style interviews with people like William “Neuromancer” Gibson, and the late Timothy Leary, among others. It tries to address all aspects of cyberpunk: the philisophy behind it, cyberpunk as a fashion statement, cyberpunk music, the implementation of cyberpunk ideas and themes in real-world situations and technological developments, etc.
The whole thing is spiced up with computer graphics, short clips from the cyberpunk anime “Akira”, clips from cyberpunk music videos etc.
On a slightly negative note, the documentary is rather low-budget fare. It might be argued, though, that this is actually part of it’s charm. After all, it kind of fits the “you-do-it-yourself” approach to technology that is asscociated with cyberpunk.
Also, the computer graphics, while still interesting, are positively dated by now. But this is only to be expected since it was produced in 1990 (which was ages ago, technologically speaking).
All in all, this is a nice introduction to cyberpunk for anyone who is interested.
